More on Odd-J Pairing in Nuclei    [PDF]

L. Zamick, A. Escuderos
In a previous submission we studuies the properties of an odd-J interaction with V(J) non-zero only for J=J_{max} =2j. We call this interaction E(J_{max}). We found in the g_{9/2} shell that a simple anzats for the wave function is not in general an eigenstate of E(9) but in some special cases it is. Also the anzatz is correct in the large j limit. Here we focus on how these wave functions compare with the wave functions of a more realisitc interaction. For even J in ^{96} Cd (2 prtonh holes-2neutron holes) we get more than 90% overlap for J=0,2,12,14 and 16 but poor overlaps for the intermediate angular momenta. The overlaps are improved by adding to E(9) a J=0 pairing interaction.
